Job Description
Looking for a land surveyor (preference Alaska PLS) to work in remote Alaska (Prudhoe Bay). The applicant will be supervising field survey crews, and most be proficient with the use of all types of survey equipment and software. This is a full-time position working a 2 week on 2 weeks off rotation. This is mainly an office position but will at times will require the applicant to work in the field.
Responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:
· Supervise field crew(s) in remote areas of Alaska including scheduling, job preparation and data management.
· Must be familiar with control surveys, boundary surveys, hydrographic surveys, subsidence surveys, topography & design surveys, aerial mapping, machine control systems and VRS networks.
· Understand and identify basic sources of measurement errors.
· Perform data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations.
· Perform project research and job preparation.
· Mentor survey team, including professional & technical oversight and guidance
· Ability to work in a physically demanding job outdoors in extreme temperatures
· Ability to fill in as Crew Chief when needed
· Proficient with operation and adjustment for all types of survey equipment
· Manage and maintain equipment inventory and logistics
· Be familiar with safety programs and policies
· Adhere to and enforce all company policies.
Required Experience:
· High school diploma or GED
· Minimum fifteen (15) years surveying and mapping experience, prefer applicant that has experience working in remote locations. Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a Survey Office Technician and five (5) years’ experience as a Crew Chief
· Must be proficient in the use of both standard total stations and robotic total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors and digital levels.
· Must be proficient with Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center and Microsoft office products.
· Must possess good interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills
· Valid Alaskan Driver’s License and acceptable motor vehicle record
Preferred Experience:
· Previous oil field experience and up-to-date training.
· PLS license, preferably Alaska
· Additional schooling i.e. college, technical training
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
