Position: Direct Support Professional V (Direct Care) [0498] E
Program: Amarillo, Texas – Alternate Living – While-A-Way
Salary: $15.66/hr.
Shift Available: Full Time –Monday/Friday Splits (06:00am – 09:00am & 03:00pm – 10:00pm); Saturday and Sunday (06:00am – 04:00pm) and any relief.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma Informed Care language.
- The Therapist Technician V (TT V) performs direct care services for with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting
- Responsible for training, transporting, cooking, feeding, bathing, toileting, and other duties associated with daily living
Required qualifications to be successful in the job:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have a minimum of eighth grade reading, comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
- Or one semester (12 semester hours) of accredited college work
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:
- Some experience in therapeutic activities
- Bilingual and/or American Sign Language skills
- Four (4) years of experience in teaching multi-disabled adults in groups and individual settings through Person Directed Plan methodology
- Four (4) years working experience in performing, training, and monitoring behavior therapy techniques and response documentation
