Southern Fabrication Works is seeking a Powder Coat Application Specialist. The Powder Coat Application Specialist is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance painting duties within the manufacturing facility, including a full range of specialized painting projects. These include, but are not limited to, painting large structures, performing inspections, cleanups, proper storage, and disposal of paint products and operating various tools and equipment. Detail oriented, highly accurate, and the ability to communicate with coworkers, and management, as well as the ability to multitask and meet deadlines are essential.
The Powder Coat Application Specialist works under the specific supervision, guidance, and direction of the Fabrication Manager, and the general supervision of the General Manager.
The following is a minimal description of specific areas of accountability for a Powder Coat Application Specialist:
- Prepare parts for coating
- Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
- Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, ad booth collection systems
- Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
- Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers
- Knowledge of color matching
- Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations
- Knowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash, and pretreatments
- Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance
- Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment
- Load and unload parts or product onto fixtures
- Knowledge of mechanics and repair of painting equipment
- Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment
- Create and maintain work orders in computer software system
- Other duties as assigned
