Marion Ag, a rapidly growing company, based in Saint Paul, Oregon, has been in business for over 40 years. Marion Ag provides fertilizer and other farm and nursery supplies to both wholesale and retail customers, locally and internationally.
Marion Ag currently has an open position in their Maintenance Department for a Maintenance Mechanic I.
The primary purpose of this position is: performing mechanical repairs, cleaning facilities, and perform tasks related to supplies management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fertilizer handling and spreading equipment such as spreaders, power boxes, tenders and fertilizer trailers.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production plant equipment such as augers, conveyors, elevators, and bagging equipment.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on production plant rolling stock such as forklifts, loaders, and pickups.
- Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to the proper person in authority; communicate maintenance and repair needs to both maintenance and production management to coordinate and schedule repairs.
- Aid in facilities maintenance by disposing of trash, replacing light bulbs, tightening hardware, sweeping and cleaning equipment (sometimes by power washing) when necessary.
- Perform tasks related to supplies management specific to facilities and equipment needs, such as monitoring inventory levels, and ordering new supplies as needed and upon approval from the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.
- Provide great internal customer service through various means of communication such as phone calls, emails, and texts.
- Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- If needed, participate in work in other departments and perform other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma and 2 years of experience in an industrial/farm/manufacturing repair environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid, insurable Oregon Driver license
Very detailed oriented and self-motivated with strong organizational skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications Ability to analyze and solve problems
Ability to work with others collaboratively
Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have valid Oregon Driver License and must be able to provide and use own tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience leading projects strongly desired
- Familiarity with basic welding and fabrication procedures; ability to safely and successfully utilize SMAW, MIG, oxy-acetylene, and plasma welding/cutting practices.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry
- Bilingual in Spanish (speak, read, write)
- Safety and EPA conscious as well as protective over company property and equipment

This position is full-time, not exempt from overtime. The scheduled shift for this position is: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Some Saturdays and after-hours work is required. Overtime is required.
