Job Summary
Participates in the health care educational needs for the client family and others with regard to patient care needs, disease prevention, and health maintenance measures.
Assists the Registered Nurse in development and implementation and individualized teaching and discharge plan at admission and throughout hospitalization.-
Acts as a liaison between patient, physician, family, significant other, and other health disciplines.
Maintains accurate and timely records according to hospital policy and procedures.
Accurately documents on each shift the nursing patient care activities and the patient response to nursing interventions and delegated medical management.-
Assists with maintaining a patient care plan that is current and reflects individual needs and preferences of patients and other(s).

Responsible for patient and family and documents response in the patient record.

Transcribes physicians’ orders completely and accurately as directed according to hospital policy and practice.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.-
Provides direct service to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.

Interacts with patients, family members, and medical staff on continuous basis.

Follows aseptic policies and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials.

Follows safety guidelines and policies for the hospital.

Participates in staff education and attends mandatory meetings.

Responsible for own education requirements to comply with Board of Nurse Examiners regulations.

Understands and complies with Center for Disease Control and Infections Control guidelines.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other duties that may be necessary or are in the best interest of the company as assigned by the RN and/or DON.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL rEQUIREMENTS:
Work performed in an office and hospital settings.
Subject to long, irregular hours.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
May be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
