This opening is at our power plant facility located in Springerville, AZ. The Springerville Generating Station operates four coal-fired units with a combined generating capacity of over 1600 megawatts of power. Although we will be retiring two of the units we operate and maintain at this facility by 2032, we continue to work together to generate safe, clean, reliable power to enhance our families, customers and communities. Primary responsibilities of an E & I Technician are to install, test, calibrate, tune, maintain, repair and modify all plant electrical, instrument, and control systems at the highest level of skill in accordance with training, plant procedures and direction. Perform other duties as directed, including the duties of lower classifications.
Other Position-Related Responsibilities:
- Understand and follow Company policies and procedures.
- Understand and follow Federal and State safety regulations.
- Understand theory, operation, troubleshooting of plant electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret schematics, logic drawings, or other prints or drawings as necessary.
- Perform job setup including required materials, tools and special equipment normally associated with electrical or instrumentation at a coal fired generating station.
- Perform complex system repair/trouble shooting using limited information and instructions
- Perform work alone or in a team setting and direct lower classifications as needed.
- Maintain a high level of awareness and responsibility for the environmental considerations that impact them, their jobs and the Company to the level of their knowledge, training and experience
- Perform assigned work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Company practices and procedures.
- Work a rotating shift schedule (i.e. shift work) as required
- Requires the ability to obtain and maintain CIP certification
- This is a Safety Sensitive Role
- This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must meet position requirements and demonstrate competency through the established testing procedure
- Ability to utilize computer based maintenance management system
- Must have qualified as a Maintenance Electrician II or an Instrument and Control Repairman II, or related experience, or have successfully completed structured certified training programs and be able to produce those certifications and have completed all assigned training in order to competently complete all assigned tasks
- Ability to read and apply information from drawings and instruction books
- Perform math calculations as needed to accurately identify voltages, current flows, or other items in order to perform duties safely and competently
- Ability to use calibration, measuring, and testing equipment
- Ability to safely operate all hand and power tools normally associated with this craft
- Must be able to bend, lift, and stoop for extended periods
- Must be able to climb stairs, work from ladders and elevated platforms

Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an Electrical or Instrumentation Apprenticeship program
