Vitro Architectural Glass was formed from two globally proven legacies in commercial glass manufacturing: PPG and Vitro. It all started in 1883, when Captain John Baptiste Ford and John Pitcairn, Jr. founded Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. Soon after, Roberto Sada Muguerza founded Vitro Glass in 1909. In 2016, the industry mantel that PPG carried in the US was passed to Vitro, establishing it as the largest glass manufacturer in North America.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for ensuring the successful performance of plant operations through planning and organizing the maintenance function of company facilities and equipment; the incumbent provides leadership and direction of maintenance department employees and coordinates the scheduling of repairs/upgrades, preventative maintenance activities and new equipment installation with operational needs and production requirements.

Prioritize maintenance objectives through use of training, coaching, problem solving, lean principles, and preventive maintenance programs to optimize process and line efficiency.
2. Direct and manage trouble-shooting and repair of production equipment, electronic circuitry, facilities, PLC’s to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
3. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, develop and supervise the maintenance budget and schedule department personnel to service production needs.
4. Work with the plant management team to develop, justify, propose and execute capital projects.
5. Support maintenance budget development and control spending to meet budget requirements.
6. Make personnel decisions including hiring, discipline, performance appraisals, resolving employee complaints and problems and reviewing training needs and development plans; conduct employee training as needed to continuously improve the safety and quality performance of the entire maintenance staff.
7. Satisfy all appropriate EH&S requirements (state, federal, & VITRO) including LOTO (lockout/tag-out) procedures, electrical safety, hot work procedures, PIT maintenance, machine guarding, etc. to comply with applicable safety rules and requirements; review machinery needs and recommend modifications, and design as well as implement changes and administrative controls.
8. Define parameters for hiring outside contractors and monitor their performance to ensure contractor employees comply with VITRO safe work practices and that they inform VITRO employees of hazards encountered with contract work performed.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must have the working knowledge to operate, trouble-shoot and maintain both automated and semi-automated production equipment and attendant computer software programs. S/he must demonstrate proficiency with PLC’s.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot machinery is required. S/he must have a good understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, electrical, electronics and facilities maintenance and must be able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
The incumbent must have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information and follow instructions at all levels of the organization. S/he must have the ability to effectively multi-task, manage time, delegate tasks, set schedules, prioritize assignments and maintain accountability.
The incumbent must be a self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision, with the ability to obtain necessary information to make sound business decisions. S/he must solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables when trouble-shooting equipment issues.
The incumbent must have knowledge of OSHA requirements as they pertain to those standards that traditionally cross functional boundaries of maintenance project work and facility and equipment repairs (specifically LOTO, PIT, Confined Space, Hot Work, Haz Com and machine guarding). S/he must have knowledge of environmental laws as they apply to waste disposal, recycling efforts, energy conservation, air emissions and groundwater contaminants.
The incumbent must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar field or the equivalent experience in a manufacturing setting, along with a minimum of five years of maintenance manufacturing and technical experience, using best practices in maintenance activities and work processes. A minimum of three of these years must be in a leadership role preferably within a maintenance department.
The incumbent must have basic computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook and preventative maintenance software systems. Knowledge of SAP is preferred.
