Overview of Duties & Responsibilities: The Mental Health Technicican 1 supervises a group of 7-10 youth while maintaining an accurate headcount and ensuring a safe & secure environment for the youth.
- Supervise daily activities of youth in a residential treatment facility
- Follow all procedures regarding safety and security of staff, youth, and facility
- Provide safe and secure environment with approved counseling techniques
- Provide progress/behavior updates and any issues or needs to treatment team
- Communicate any medical or special needs to appropriate staff
- Report any inappropriate behavior, physical force, or unusual incidents to appropriate staff
Key competencies/requirements
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Experience in de-escelation/calming techniques
- CPR/First Aid Certification (must be obtained during probationary period)
- High School Diploma
- Two years of college coursework in applicable field preferred (recent grads encouraged to apply)
