The ranch manager will be responsible for all employees working on the farm and for the well-being of the breeding stock. We not only expect the manager to complete daily, weekly, and monthly duties but to be proactive about new trends and practices in the poultry, agriculture, and business world. As duck and goose farming is a niche market, we have to be inventive and adaptive to methods of production.
With sales increasing every year, we are very excited to open up our second ranch this year after being in business for over 40 years. We believe there are ample opportunities to make this an industry leading waterfowl farm.
Situated in Central California, Hollister is home to great year-round weather for residents and wildlife. Within an hour drive from downtown San Jose or Monterey Bay, you have the city, country, and coastline all within an easy reach.
This is a year round, full time position. The pay range is $50,000+ depending on education and experience. You will be eligible for a silver equivalent health insurance program after your second month of work. The total number of farm employees will incrementally increase to 5 employees. Total Metzer Farms' employees, including the Gonzales ranch and hatchery, varies from 15 to 30 depending on the season so you will be part of a smaller, proactive company. There will be some office work, but much of the time will be work on the farm.
We want someone bilingual and organized as there will always be multiple projects and duties going on at once. They must have the ability to do much of the farm work themselves, not just be a manager. We need somebody that has the ability to care for and maintain equipment. They must be responsible and have the drive to be a great manager and leader for a growing company.
