DC Team Member Trainer - Weekend Shift

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
This position will be proficient in all of the following skills: Receiving/Sorting/Staging – (includes break down of incoming pallets domestic and/or international shipments); Replenishment; Put-away; Picking/Packing – (includes filling and completing customer orders according to specialized instructions); Cycle Counting; Shipping- (includes managing integrity of freight shipping to customers, completion of all orders in the system and communication with carriers). Perform functions in both SAP and the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
A high level of productivity is required in addition to a high and consistent level of quality.
Assist all other DC Team Members with process questions. Daily tasks may change throughout the day at the direction of the supervisor and will require the ability to remain flexible and learn new tasks quickly. Must be proficient in basic WMS (Warehouse Management System) screens, SAP Receiving module, and RF scan gun operation.
This position requires the ability to identify, research, and resolve issues and communicate results to multiple departments and their results will have a direct impact on inventory accuracy and customer orders. This position will be a role model and coach to other DC employees.
Will also be responsible for training associates to perform a variety of warehouse related functions such as sorting, scanning, handling materials, receiving and shipping product, inventory control, and safe forklift operation. Train associates to use the appropriate operations software platforms utilized in the facility. Training programs must follow client and facility guidelines and SOPs.
Must be licensed and proficient in numerous material handling equipment including sit down Forklift, Stand-up counterbalance forklift. Man up order picker, ride on Pallet Jack, Reach Truck, and multi-directional fork trucks.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Daily Schedule
Determines daily work schedule via work board instructions and as directed by Supervisor.
Ability to work with little to no supervision.
Equipment
Perform equipment inspection and complete proper documentation before operating any equipment
List of equipment expected to utilize:
Order picker
Pallet Jack (Short and Long)
Counter Balance (Stand Up and Sit Down)
Training
Train associates on current logistics processes using Training Checklists and Work Instructions
Train associates on Viadat and SAP
Train associates to scan product codes of client products to input data into Company’s computerized system for processing in a productive and accurate manner
Train associates to sort scanned product in appropriate container locations
Train associates to inspect condition of product and prepare for disposition in accordance with client contract terms
Train associates to clean and organize work area daily
Answer questions and provide assistance in order to help associates in meeting their daily production, accuracy, and safety goals
Retrain associates as necessary
Work with Process Team on creating, revising and updating training documents
Periodic review of employee training
Assist with Identifying root cause for common errors made and developing a solution to resolve
Ensure associates have all tools necessary to complete their job responsibilities
Ensure associates are provided with a safe, hazard free work environment
Set a standard of excellence in job performance, attendance, and adherence to all policies and procedures that is an example for all other associate
Perform other related duties as assigned

Lean Process Audits
Communicate updates to training matrix to leadership team
Receiving, Sorting and Staging
Unload shipments from trucks utilizing forklift or pallet jack; reads labels to determine designated storage or staging location; combines and separates shipment into individual pallets based on product and/or ship ID numbers; confirms order quantities with packing lists
Perform a 3-way match – validate all product part numbers and quantities received match purchase order and packing list.
Input information into both SAP and the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ensure data entered into both systems is accurate and complete. This activity must be extremely accurate as any errors will negatively impact inventory accuracy, the General Ledger and customer orders/satisfaction.
Utilizes a forklift or reach truck to transport pallets from receiving and production areas to designated storage and staging locations.
Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies using paperwork, Warehouse Management System, Traffic, Inside Sales, and Customer Service.
Replenishment
Identify products and containers for replenishment; scan containers and transports pallets utilizing a forklift or reach truck, to designated storage location.
Scan container tag with the RF gun to receive designated location, drive pallet to that location, and scan product to ensure that it is the correct part and quantity during put away to prevent inventory inaccuracy.
Picking, Packing and SPS/LTL/FTL Shipping
Pick inventory using RF gun and place in containers; transport to packing lanes; verify quantity matches with scanner instructions; move product into final shipping container; label container to create final shipping unit; confirm into SAP utilizing the WMS; transport to designated shipping area; ensure orders are accurate and efficient, according to company’s established guidelines and standards.
Use Warehouse Management System (WMS) data to properly consolidate pallets for multiple orders on a single outbound trailer to reduce shipping costs and improve quality.
Shippers are responsible for making sure all shipments and orders are properly and safely packed onto trucks according to bills of lading and information is updated in SAP utilizing the WMS.
Scan and pick coils and fittings utilizing order picker according to customer orders.
Pick and label straight lengths (up to 20’ bundles); transport to shipping docks utilizing forklift
Band, label, palletize and operate pallet wrapper in order to prepare pallets for shipping
Perform packaging of materials for shipping according to specified instructions or customer requirements; ensures all product/shipping labels are legible and accurate
Load pallets and bundles onto trucks for shipping, ensuring product is loading onto the correct carrier or truck indicated by the WMS and BOLs
Cycle Counting
Participates in daily cycle counting. This function requires a high attention to detail, patience, and quality. Quality errors with cycle counting will result in inventory discrepancies, errors to the General Ledger, and could impact customer orders/satisfaction
Put Away
Scan pallets and inventory into receiving to determine where products are to be stored; transport product accordingly utilizing order picker (forklift or reach truck).

Facility and Equipment Care – Ensures facility and equipment checklists are maintained; performs and maintains cleanliness, 5s functions and forklift inspections in a timely manner.
Proactive Damage Control – Works toward error proofing, recognizing problems before they happen; communicates and notifies supervisor of potential problems and helps eliminate the opportunity for future problems while maintaining proper communication channels.
Pallet Quality – Ensures pallets are of high quality, including but not limited to stability, quantity, label accuracy and general overall appearance; ensures pallets are damage free and transported safely without incident.
Inventory Accuracy – Maintains accurate inventory levels; resolves discrepancies as they occur; recognizes the opportunity for error and takes appropriate action to eliminate it
Focus on individual quality improvement and maintain highest quality standards to ensure the customer receives all orders correct, on time, and as requested.
Work with leadership team to create personal improvement plan for individual process or quality issues
Contribute to any process changes in response to errors to the customer
Correct and record Technical errors from manufacturing and vendors
Cleaning and Area Upkeep
Maintain clean work environment; may perform 5S activities (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, and sustain) to organize and manage distribution center.
Other
Answers questions and assists DC Team Member I, II and III as needed.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must have accurate counting and math skills.
Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook, SAP
Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
Knowledge of warehouse management systems
Ability to adhere to quality standards and procedures
Ability to read and understand information presented
Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, etc.
Ability to lift and move heavy or bulky items weighing 50 pounds or more
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to pay close attention to detail
Ability to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while sustaining a positive attitude with those you interact with; always going above and beyond to help others out, regardless of their position or department

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
3+ years of warehouse experience
Warehouse Management Systems experience required
SAP Receiving experience required
Cycle counting experience required
Certification in material handling equipment required
Completed DC Team Member Level IV Training Curriculum
5S experience preferred
Lean experience preferred
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
